A little annoying...

I have a complaint about some University of Texas fans that I think a lot of us share. I was at Wings N More last night sharing a meal with my wife and watching what should have been a close and entertaining game between A&M and UT. Well, not so much. UT jumped out early and the game was quickly out of hand.

What was annoying, however, was the group of four men sitting a table over. They were cheering every Longhorn basket, and occasionally one of them would clap loudly and obnoxiously. Also, of the men at the table kept referring to the Longhorns as “we” (you’ll see what I mean by this in a second).

The point of this story is not that there’s something wrong with rooting for your team at a restaurant or in public. It’s that 95% of University of Texas fans did not attend the university. Every time you attend a UT sporting event or witness such on television in a public place, I’m sure you have noticed this, too. It’s always the loud and annoying ones that get your attention, and they are the people who haven’t even been near the actual campus.

My wife actually considering saying this as we walked out before halftime. “Uh, nice game and everything, but, did you guys go to UT? Yeah, I didn’t think so.”
